Bad karma, Good karma
My daughter came with her moral
science book to me to narrate her the
story of a fox and eagle. The story goes
like this the eagle steal fox’s cub from his whole and feed her young brood
when fox was away . Eagle suffered by losing her babies to a accidental fire
which caused eaglets to burn in the nest , before eagle’s eyes. Moral of the
story , God’s punishment never fails. An evil deed done knowingly is always
followed by suitable punishment. From childhood this moral is so ingrained in
our consciousness that we always take delight whenever a criminal or guilty
gets punishment. I wonder is this the reason we curse whoever harm us or tries
to harm. In real world our experience is rather different. Corrupt and
dishonest people here enjoys all the material possession and pleasures
and honest people are suffering in poverty and lack. It awake a feeling of injustice within us. We
feel angered, hurt and sometimes directionless. We want answers, but the
answers are vague, like they will get punished ultimately but now they are
enjoying the fruits of their past good karmas. And why then the honest person
is suffering ? Is he suffering because
of his bad karmas of past life . Why it is always so that dishonest person
always has a bank account of past life good karma and vice versa. Sometime they
argue, that people can earn money by dishonesty but are not happy. True but the
honest one is also not happy. He even feels guilty for being honest. Well there
is no easy answers to look for.
